As Ballet Magnificat! enters its 25th year, we are excited to offer this concert series to our Jackson-area friends.

Three days . . . three amazing stories.

Friday, April 9th - 7PM - Hiding Place - Inspired by the true story of Corrie ten Boom and set in the war zone of Dutch Haarlem in 1944, Hiding Place is a portrayal of divinely inspired forgiveness in the midst of desperate and unimaginable circumstances. Ballet Magnificat! Omega taps into the struggle of two sisters, Corrie and Betsie ten Boom, as they search for possibilities to help their life-long Jewish neighbors and friends find security in a small hiding place built in the wall of their home, only to be discovered and transported to the concentration camp of Ravensbrück to face struggles far exceeding their wildest imagination. Choreographer Jiri Sebastian Voborsky unveils this heroic story with a great level of drama, passion, pain, yet joy, and ultimately hope, as he brings before the audience the challenge to believe the unbelievable - the power of forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Saturday, April 10th - 7PM - The Scarlet Cord - Inspired and loosely based on the Biblical account of Rahab, the ballet is set against the gray background of the communist Soviet Union. This production depicts the story of Rahab the harlot, party official Vladimir Ivanovich, and the undercover missionaries Aaron and Anna Grimes, as well as those pressed down by the iron fist of the Soviet government. This tale of betrayal, love, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice paints a portrait of an offering brought before our amazing Savior. Come witness this moving drama of a revolution - a human heart turning to the ultimate truth, Jesus Christ.

Sunday, April 11th - 3PM - Deliver Us - Under the blazing Egyptian sun, enslaved Israelites cry out for a deliverer.  Pharaoh's oppressive regime of bondage is challenged as one man, Moses, attempts to free the people.  His efforts are futile and fail to produce any change.  Frustrated and ashamed Moses flees to the desert wasteland.

In the heat of the desert, Moses finds a hope that can never run dry- a trust in the Almighty Creator.  Bolstered by the strength that only God can provide, he returns to Egypt, faces the corrupt Pharaoh and leads the Hebrew people to freedom - the people finally receiving their long-awaited deliverer.

The ballet shifts to transport the audience to a pivotal point in history to give them a glimpse of another Deliverer: Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.  His death accomplishing something far greater than Moses could ever bring the Israelites: freedom from the despair that has long gripped the human race.  Christ's death leads to resurrection from death, emancipating mankind into powerful freedom!

Gripping!  You will be drawn into a story that you will not soon forget!
