Not a teacher or a classically trained dancer, but love to dance for the Lord?  Are you a member of a church or ministry dance team, or considering starting one?  This year, you can be a part of Ballet Magnificat’s 20th Annual Summer Workshop!

As a participant in this ground-breaking workshop, you can take many of the classes designated for students and teachers (Teachers Workshop), plus we have classes especially created for you.

 Some examples:

  • Praise & Worship Technique Classes – (A) those trained in classical ballet may take with the teachers (B) technique classes broken down to a creative movement approach for dancers without classical ballet training
  • Variations – dances you can take back and use
  • Choreography, Rehearsals and Costuming
  • Professionalism in your Dance Ministry Presentations
  • Incorporating banners, flags, streamers & tambourines into worship dance
  • Children and Praise and Worship Dance
  • Tools for Creative Worship Sessions
  • Biblical Foundations for Local Dance Ministries
  • Participation in Teachers' Classes

You will be a part of the awesome evening Bible studies, creative worship sessions with the companies, as well as meet, study, pray, worship and interact with individuals from across America (and the world) as we all come together in Jackson, MS, for this annual workshop.

TWO COMPANY PERFORMANCES will take place during the week you are here. The Alpha Company will perform their new ballet The Scarlet Cord, and the Omega Company will perform a selection from their repertory.

Adult participants will also be invited to the Special Dinner hosted by Keith and Kathy Thibodeaux.  Guests love this wonderful opportunity to hear Keith and Kathy's vision and pick their brains for help in implementing their individual ministry's vision. We'll take a trip across Jackson to one of their favoriate local restaurants for this event. Participants under 18 will be treated to a Special Dinner with members of the Touring Companies.

Open to women ages 16 and up, our format provides an opportunity for praise and worship dancers from a wide variety of backgrounds to come together with others to learn, share ideas, and be refreshed in the Lord.

Just like participants in the Teachers Workshop, adult participants will be  allowed to plan your own daily schedules based on the list of available classes.  Under-18 participants will be assisted by their counselor in planning your dialy schedules based on your needs and dance experience. Each evening, you will participate in the same activities as the teachers and dance intensive students, including Bible studies and Creative Worship. Participants will be a part of their own prayer and Bible study groups led by your counselor.

At Ballet Magnificat! we seek to honor Jesus Christ and make Him known to the widest possible audience through the medium of dance.  So how does that happen at our Summer Intensive? We begin each day with praise and worship and an opportunity to hear personal testimonies from Ballet Magnificat! staff and professional company members.

Also, all students (young and old) are assigned to counselor groups.  These groups meet for prayer and Bible studies in the evenings.  Participants often find that treasured friendships are formed in their small groups as they  discuss, learn, worship and dance together.

Creative Worship sessions take the dancer from the classical setting and allow them to use dance and creative talents as a worship tool.  Participants  are encouraged to use their dancing as an expression of adoration to the Almighty Creator.

During the week of this workshop, there will be a performance of "Hiding Place" by the Ballet Magnificat! Omega Professional Touring Company.

Ballet Magnificat! is an inter-denominational ministry. Our members attend a variety of churches including Presbyterian, Southern Baptist, and non-denominational charismatic. It has always been our policy not to encourage one denomination over another, but rather to respect one another's choice of worship and to celebrate our common faith in Christ.

I really enjoyed my experience at BalletMag's summer conference. Every dance class was inspiring and beautifully worshipful. The lectures with John V. were filled with lots of great insights and wisdom on dance as a form of worship. Also, the contacts I made with other people in worship dance were incredible -- I met so many truly amazing people!!! - Jody Thomae, Ashland, OH

The week I spent with Ballet Magnificat was incredible. Not only was I able to walk away with the tools to better teach my dancers who have no dance training, but we were also able to learn and use some of the choreography by Ballet Magnificat. Worshiping with the other praise and worship dancers was a very moving experience and I know that we were all touched by the hand of God that week. I can't wait to come back! - Brittany Holmes, Corinth, TX

When I saw that Ballet Mag was offering a P&W seminar, it was an answer to my prayers. What an answer to prayer, learning excellent technique in a God centered way. Not only was I taught technique and choreography, I found others that share my passion to minister through dance. I was amazed by the excellence of how the conference was run. All my needs were met. - Jeanette Friend, Lynn Haven, FL

The workshop was an awsome experience for me. I felt God working in everyone he brought into contact with me. All of the staff was encouraging and very full of the spirit. I wish that I could be surrounded by that all of the time!! The classes themselves helped me further myself in what praise and worship dance can be, especially if dance is brought into the worship experience. The Lord definatly has a purpose for this workshop and everyone who attends it! - Beth Terrell, Flower Mound, TX

Ballet Mag was a tremendous lift for me. I had the chance to work with people of all ages who shared a love of God and dance. Those students who attended made me feel like I was part of something versus the studio I was coming from. During the increasingly hard months that have followed I looked back on those moments and allowed those feelings of praise for all God has done for me come flooding back. I also remember the fun, hardwork and companionship of all those that I met. - Darilynn Durr, Lemoore, CA

Attending the Ballet Magnificat Praise and Worship summer workshop was like having God give me the most beautiful present imaginable. It was an opportunity to live and learn for a week with like minded praise and worship dancers, to take classes taught by Ballet Magnificat dancers, to see a Ballet Magnificat rehearsal and presentation, and to participate daily in Bible study and worship services. It was everything and more that I envisioned it would be and was truly an experience I will always treasure; I was blessed beyond measure! - Bobbi Stringer, Keller, TX
