Katie Garwood moved to Mississippi in August of 2002 to begin the trainee program. She began her training in Middletown, Ohio, at the DeWeese Academy of Dance Arts. During high school she trained in Elmira, New York, under Raphael Grigorian and finished her senior year in Dayton, Ohio, at Dayton Ballet. Katie earned her Bachelor of Science in Ballet and Arts Management at Indiana University before moving to Chicago to study short term with Ballet Chicago. In the fall of 2000 she began teaching at DancePlace, the official school of North Carolina Dance Theatre, instructing beginning students through the advanced level. While teaching in Charlotte, Katie was also a member of American Dance Art, a local modern company. When asked about her diverse background, Katie responds that “after living so many places and my family now living in Maine, I am so honored that the Lord has brought me to a place where I can use all of my training to worship and serve Him.” Katie was a second year trainee in Ballet Magnificat! II when she received the Rose Faucer Dance Scholarship. She was promoted to Alpha Company Apprentice in August 2004 and company member of the Alpha Company in August 2006.
