Deborah Meis, from Memphis, Tennessee, began her classical ballet training, at the age of 7 and continued for 10 years under Debra Van Cure Wexler, former principle dancer of Maryland Ballet. At age 14, she began a Christian classical ballet program at Independent Presbyterian Church in Memphis, and taught there for four years sharing her gift of ballet with her students in the name of Jesus. At 15, Deborah received private coaching under Alexei Moskalenko, former Bolshoi Ballet Dancer who led Deborah to a silver medal in the Senior Classical Division at the Youth America Grand Prix Semi-Finals competition. She was then invited to compete in the YAGP New York City Finals. Deborah furthered her dance training each year by attending Ballet Magnificat!’s Summer Dance Intensives in Jackson, MS beginning at age 11. At 14, Deborah was selected to be in the first Pre-Professional level of Ballet Magnificat!’s Summer Dance Intensive, premiering “Will You or Won’t You.” Deborah’s most memorable experiences were sharing the love of Jesus, while performing with her sister Rachel, for over 5,000 children in Rwanda, Africa during mission trips in 2012 and 2013. Deborah joined Ballet Magnificat!’s Trainee Program in 2013 and performed with The Events Company for 2 years travelling locally and in Honduras and Mexico. In 2015, she was promoted to Apprentice with the Ballet Magnificat! Omega Company, and in 2016 she was promoted to Company Artist.
