Emily Dix was born in Wheaton, Illinois, and began dancing at the Park District at age three. At age seven she started dancing at Von Heidecke’s Chicago Festival Ballet studio. There she studied under Kenneth Von Heidecke, Vanessa Valecillos, and Guillermo Leyva for eleven years. During those years Emily performed lead roles in the ballets The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Don Quixote. She first saw Ballet Magnificat! perform in the fall of 2003, and she attended the Ballet Magnificat! Summer Dance Intensives in 2006 and 2007. In the fall of 2008, Emily moved to Mississippi to begin training with the Ballet Magnificat! Trainee Program. She was promoted to Apprentice with the Alpha Company in 2010, to Senior Apprentice in 2011 and to Alpha Company Artist in 2012.
