The People of Ballet Magnificat!
Rhiain Fernie started her dance training at the age of six in her hometown of Sydney, Australia with Janice Megna from the Australian Ballet Co. Rhiain joined Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy, touring in the UK and Europe. She also performed with the Sydney City Youth Ballet for three seasons with roles in the Nutcracker, Polar Express, and Cinderella.
Rhiain received Highly Commended and Distinction in all RAD exams. She was awarded the Joan and Monica Halliday Scholarship Award, a Highly Commended in the Wenkart Senior Classical Championship at the Sydney Eisteddfod, and a semi-finalist at the prestigious Isobel Anderson Awards two years in a row. Rhiain was also featured on the ABC3 TV teen drama series "Dance Academy" for all three seasons.
In 2012 Rhiain traveled to New York to accept a scholarship at the Joffrey Ballet School where she not only learned a range of different dance styles but also completed courses in anatomy, music, dance history, nutrition and dance teaching. During her second year in New York, Rhiain learned about the Christian dance scene and the Lord made it clear to her that this is the area in which she is called.
Rhiain joined Ballet Magnificat's trainee program for two years and had the opportunity to dance on mission trips to Mexico and Honduras. Throughout the years Rhiain has taught at several dance schools, teaching students from a variety of ages. The Lord has given Rhiain a passion for teaching and mentoring students and she is very excited to be teaching at Ballet Magnificat!
