School of the Arts
2012-2013 Classes
Ballet Magnificat! School of the Arts opened its doors in 1989. Powered by the vision of Kathy Thibodeaux, founder of Ballet Magnificat!, the School focuses on training young dancers in excellence to use their gifts and talents to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. Because of the annual student participation in the productions with the professional companies, Ballet Magnificat! School of the Arts offers the young dancers a unique opportunity to grow and study in a healthy, Christ-centered environment combined with inspiration of the Godly examples of the artists of the touring companies. The director and the teachers of the School have been called to develop each student to the best of their potential in their individual gifts.
FAQs
Do you hold a recital at the end of the year?
Yes, each class has the opportunity to present a dance they’ve worked on during their class time. It’s a memorable experience, where all the levels in the School present their piece as an offering to the Lord and the parents are able to see their child’s progress.
Do I have to pay for a costume? Will my child get to keep their costume?
Each student who participates in the recital will receive a costume they get to take home when the year is finished. The fee for costumes varies each year, but typically the Lower School Costume Fee is $55; Upper School $75.
What are MiniMag! and Magnificat! Youth Ballet?
MiniMag! (comprised of invited students from Ballet I-III) and MYB (students from Ballet IV and V) are groups that perform in the Jackson area throughout the school year, desiring to share the love of Jesus Christ through the medium of dance.
Can I watch my child take class?
Most of the studios at Ballet Magnificat! have windows through which you can watch the students take ballet class.
We also set aside one week out of each year for parents to come into the studios and see the students in class, firsthand.
I’m an adult; am I too old to take ballet class?
No! We offer a beginning level adult ballet class for those with little or no ballet experience. This class meets once a week and is perfect if you want to pick up an old hobby or start a new one. To see a Registration Form for this class, click:

What if my child has to miss a class?
Please call the School Office when you know the student will not be able to attend a class. We will then let the teacher know. If your child is in Upper School, please plan to make-up a class within 30 days of the missed class. You may set up a time with the Office Assistant or School Administrator.
